MIMT, Greater Noida Abstract Quality in doctor's services, quality in hospital care and quality in nursing homes have a prime concern of all facets of society. In the last centuries the healthcare system has been spectacularly successful in increasing the human life span. Main reason for this is setting up of numerous quality controls on a wide variety of activities, products and systems, all relating to human health. In the present environment the need is to shift the medical paradigm away from the traditional perception that the accepted standards is just to deliver healthcare in a scientific and caring manner. The present paper outlines how to bring about this shift in the health care organisations. It shall enable to understand the factors that influence quality in the healthcare system. It shall also help to design a quality improvement programs for health care units. The study is conducted in selected units in NCR, Delhi and in no way reflects the complete health care industry.
