Women entrepreneurs in personal care industry: An exploratory study of the critical success factors Chitra K, Senior Lecturer in Commerce Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, Coimbatore-44 Abstract The role of women in the society is undergoing a radiant change. Gone are the days where women are expected to cater to the fulfillment of family needs by means of effective application of income. Women are now income generators too. A geometric progression could be witnessed in the number of women going for job, so also in self-employment. However the factors contribute towards the success or otherwise of entrepreneurial venture by women. This research endeavor is made to explore the same. The paper aims to understand and promote the women entrepreneurs in general and particularly the women entrepreneurs in personal care industry. The study assumes the characteristics of both descriptive and exploratory research. Primary data are collected from thirty five women entrepreneurs identified on the basis of convenience. The scope of the study is confined to beauty parlours operated in Coimbatore city. The study brings to light the profile of women entrepreneurs, profile of the unit, factors influencing entrepreneurship, critical success factors and the problems of women entrepreneurs. Further the paper attempts to explore the relationship between select demographic variables and critical success factors and the problems. Top | | | |
