Abstract

Academic institutions are considered as organisations leading to full growth and development of human resources rather than product-oriented organisations. Therefore, if they are able to incorporate the growth and development of human resources, it works in the direction of self-actualisation. So, this research paper seeks to investigate the effect of work-life balance on quality of life and employee engagement of teachers of higher education institutions in north India. A questionnaire was administered to collect 425 responses from teachers. Structural Equation Modeling and t-Test was employed to analyse the data. The results indicate that work-life balance has a positive effect on quality of life which fully mediates the relationship between work-life balance and employee engagement. The results clearly indicate the need for a conducive working environment to improve the quality of life hence quality of work teachers.
