Facilitating women to be entrepreneurs - role of edpand financial institutions

ABSTRACT

Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) has an important role to play in solving unemployment problem. The most alarming form of unemployment today is educated unemployment. India is facing chronic unemployment problem. This problem could be successfully overcome by entrepreneurship development programmes to motivate entrepreneurial talent and groom them to be effective entrepreneurs.

The task of developing entrepreneurship comprises of: a) Identifying and carefully selecting those who could be developed as entrepreneurs, b) Developing their entrepreneurial capabilities c) Ensuring that they have a viable industrial project, d) Equipping them with basic administrative, financial and managerial capabilities e) Helping them to secure necessary financial and other infrastructural assistance.

Apart from highlighting the role of financial institutions in facilitating the women to be entrepreneurs, this paper also discusses the factors which motivate women entrepreneurs and tries to understand the opinion ofwomen trainees regarding the effectiveness of selfemployment training) attended by them.
