Abstract The present study was carried out to compare the cognitive status and functional competence of community-dwelling 240 older adults, both males (N=126) and females ( N=1l4) from the rural and urban areas of 6 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The standardized tool, MMSE, and Disability scales were used to assess the cognitive status and functional competence among older people.
