Abstract A quasi experimental post-test study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Helfer Skin Tap technique in reducing pain during intramuscular injection among adults attending injection OPD in SVMCH & RC at Puducherry. Thirty patients were selected for experimental and 30 for control group by using nonprobability sampling. Experimental group received Helfer Skin Tap technique and in control group routine procedure was followed. The post-test level of pain was assessed by pain scale. In the experimental group 28(93.3%) of them had mild pain and control group 14 (46.7%) of them had moderate and severe pain with mean and SD score of 1.73 ±0.91 respectively. In control group mean and SD were 6.53 ± 1.76 respectively. The calculated ‘t’ value was 13.18, which was greater than 2.05. Thus the perception of pain intensity was less with Helfer Skin Tap Technique. Top Keywords Helfer skin tap, intramuscular injection, pain. Top |
