Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Post Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV among Staff Nurses

Abstract

A study to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge and attitude regarding post exposure prophylaxis for HIV among staff nurses working in selected private hospitals of Ahmedabad city. Pre experimental one group pre test and post test research design was used in this study. A sample of 60 staff nurses were selected by using non probability convenient sampling technique. The pretest and posttest level of knowledge and attitude regarding post exposure prophylaxis for HIV were assessed using structured knowledge questionnaire and structured five point Likert's attitude rating scale respectively. The findings of the study showed that the mean difference in pre and posttest knowledge and attitude score is 9.88 with 't' value 38.591 and 16.5 with 't' value is 28.738respectively which was highly significant at p<0.05. Hence it can be concluded that the planned teaching programme was effective in improving knowledge and attitude regarding post exposure prophylax is for HIV among staff nurses.
