Online Published on 26 October, 2023. Abstract Life can be very much demanding as well as dramatic for nurses who provide emergency health care. Nurses who administer medications need to have a thorough and broad knowledge of the drugs and its mode of administration in the effective treatment of patients whose life lies in her hand. A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding protocol of high risk drugs among novice nurses in selected hospital at Chennai.A pre experimental one group pre testpost test research design was adopted for the study and 30 novice nurses were selected using simple random sampling technique. Semi structured questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge regarding protocol of high risk drugs and planned teaching programme on protocol of high risk drugs was given to the nurses for about 30 minutes which was followed by the post test. The study findings showed that the pre test mean score was 10.7 with standard deviation of 2.15 and post test mean score was 20.83 with standard deviation of 1.78. The paired `t` value was 19.9*** which revealed that there was a highly statistically significant difference between the pre test and post test level of knowledge at p<0.001 Top Keywords Protocol of high risk drugs, Planned teaching programme, Novice nurses.
