Emotional Labour of Caregivers of Patients with Major Mental Illnesses at Government Hospital, Nagappattinam Sathiya V.1, Vijayalakshmi2, Dr. Judie A.3 1M. Sc. Abstract The main aim of the study was to develop coping strategies of caregivers of patients with major mental illness. Phenomenological research design was adopted for the study. The care givers of patient with mental illness were selected from multispecialty hospital. There was fifteen (100%) patients getting free treatment from this hospital, Thirteen (86.7%) satisfied with the hospital services and two (13.3%) caregivers received pension from the government, three (20%) of them received old age benefit, four (26.7%) patients received disability benefit and six of them, both the caregivers and patient, didn't get any benefits.
