Abstract

The performance of the eight genetically diverse varieties of Barley alongwlth there 28 F1S was evaluated to assess their genetic architecture for the yield and Its contrlbuUng character in a set of diallel Crosses. The component analysis indicated that both additive (D) and dominance (Hl and H1 genetic variances were important for grain yield/plant, Harvest index and seed hardineSs; while only additive genetic variance for 1000 kemel weight. For remaining characters, H was higher than D component Indicating the preponderance of dominance genetic variance. Over dominance played an Important role for all the characters except 1000 kemel weight. Significant value of F, were observed for harvest index and seed hardiness while highly significant values ĤZ were recorded for Grain yield/plant, Harvest index, grain weight, 1000 kemel weight and Tryptophan content.
