Online Published on 28 July, 2023. Abstract The minor breeding tract of Sonadi sheep consists of Bhilwara district of Rajasthan and part of north Gujarat. The information with respect to body weight of Sonadi and Khari sheep maintained in minor breeding tract of sonadi seep is scanty. Hence, the present investigation was carried out to study the body weight at different age in Sonadi and Khari sheep maintained in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. The data collected on 1376 animals maintained by 32 shepherds belongs to nine villages from two tehsils of Bhilwara district. The data on body weight of all sheep ( Sonadi and their crosses) maintained by shepherds were recorded at birth,3,6,9,12,15,18 and 21 months of age The data were subjected to leastsquares and maximum likelihood computer programme. The overall least-squares mean for body weight at birth (lambing ), 3,6,9,12,15,18 and 21 months were 3.22±0.044, 10.90±0.048, 15.84±0.088, 19.79±0.114, 23.05±0.278, 25.97±0.317, 28.66±0.449 and 32.05±0.437 Kg respectively in sheep maintained in minor breeding tract of Sonadi sheep. Majority of the variations with respect to location, sex and breed on body weights at 0,3,6,9,12,15,18 and 21 months were non-significant except location on 3 months, sex on 15 and 21 months of age. Males were heaver the females. The variations in body weight at different ages of pure Sonadi sheep and their crosses with Marwari (Khari) were also non-significant, indicating both the breeds (Sonadi and Khari) perform equally in minor breeding tract of Sonadi sheep i.e. Bhilwara district with respect to body weight.
