Abstract Indian industrial units are greatly affected by disinvestments, privatization, restructuring and takeovers which, in turn, affect the labour relations scenario of the country. The process makes management and labour realize the need of each other and develop cooperative relationship between them. The present paper is an analysis of the labour-management relations in the state of Orissa. An attempt has been made here to describe the emerging labour-management relations scenario, based on the analysis of the responses of workers and management personnel from major industrial units of the state.
