Abstract The present age has been rightly termed as an "information age". People want adequate and authentic information as early as possible. The ultimate aim of information system is how best possible communication system is developed and put into practice so that the consumers of the information are in the position to utilize properly at their level. The success of any programme depends to a great extent on the timely availability of information sources to the audience. The contribution of women in agriculture and home science also depends to a great extent on the prompt availability of sources and their timely and properly utilization by them, Communication is the process through which information is sent, received and exchanged. The communication component of an agricultural and home science development programme involves the systematic application, of communication technologies, methodologies, and skills to disseminate information to and receive feedback from target groups of people and to facilitate the exchange of information, among all directly or indirectly involved in the programme. The technology and scientific advancements have created the need tc modify certain home making practices to meet the changing social and economic demands of the home makers. Today th home maker's role is entirely different fron that of her counterpart in the past. She i now expected to fulfill many social and moral obligations besides attending to hei normal household chores.
