Abstract Social ecology is the study of interrelation between the human society and its various components along with its natural surroundings. Industrial areas have some distinct features of demographic heterogeneity. Durgapur is one of the major industrial centers (specially iron and steel) of West Bengal as well a major urban center. People migrate for working purpose not only from the other districts of Bengal but from the neighboring states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa also. The present study tries to unfold the nature of societal dilemma of an urban industrial center through the lenses of social ecology. The study is based on secondary data and primary feld survey to reveal the real scenario. Top | |
