Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, representing an increasing challenge to public health and the healthcare system, and having a tremendous impact at both the individual and the societal levels. The purpose of this study was the assessment of cognition of 220 community-dwelling elderly individuals aged 60 years and above, who volunteered for the study. The Marathi Version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MOCA) was used for cognitive assessment. The findings revealed that 134 individuals (61.4%) Scored less than the cut-off score of 26 on the MOCA Test suggesting that mild cognitive impairment needs for further assessment to diagnose the risk for Alzheimer s disease (AD).
