Abstract The present study aimed to translate and establish the psychometric properties of Sudha Bhogle and Indira Jai Prakash s Psychological Well-Being(pWB) questionnaire into Tamil. 213 older people (91 males and 122females) aged 60 years and above living in Tamil Nadu were selected for this study. Tamil-translated Bhogle, s., and Prakash Indera, J., ‘s Psychological Well-Being questionnaire (1995) was individually administered to the respondents of this study. Mean, alpha coefficient, temporal stability, and factorial structure were calculated from the data. It was found that the average mean score of psychological well-being was 20.76 for older men and 21.14 for older women and these differences were identified as statistically significant. The translated tool had an acceptable content validity and the alpha coefficient was 0.90. The scores analyzed by the principal component method with varimax rotation delivered twelve factors with an Eigen value greater than one. The twelve factors were labeled as Meaninglessness, Somatic symptoms, Self-esteem, Positive affect, Daily activities, Life satisfaction, Suicidal ideas, Personal control, Social support, Tension, Wellness, and General efficiencyIt was concluded that the Tamil version of the Psychological Well-Being questionnaire would be useful to evaluate psychological well-being among Tamil-speaking older people and the version was reliable with previous studies carried out on the other versions.
