Online published on 24 February, 2020. Abstract The aim of the study is to assess the level of depression and seeking mental health services among HIV positive patients. The design used in the present study is ex post facto design. The total sample size is 60 HIV positive patients, out of which 30 were males and 30 were females. A purposive sampling technique was used for the collection of the sample. The tools for present study used were History taking Performa for HIV positive patients and Beck Depression Inventory-II. Frequency distribution test and Mann Whitney U Test were used for statistical analysis of data. The findings of the study shows that HIV positive patients have depression and there is a significant difference in the severity of depression between female and male HIV positive patients. The results also revealed that females having HIV infection have higher level of depression than males having HIV infection and seeking of mental health services is very poor Findings of the present study will be helpful in early detection of depression and advantageous for the treatment of HIV infection patients.
