Online published on 23 March, 2023. Abstract Indian English poetry is around two centuries old. "Post-Independence Indian English Poetry," sometimes known as "Post-Independence Indian English poetry," is a new form that has undergone the most significant changes. It represents a decisive break with the imitative or derivative "tradition" of pre-independence Indian English poetry and is technically and thematically new. In the works of poets of this century, the clash between tradition and modernity in several domains — social, cultural, familial, national, and international — is visible. Having escaped the shackles of "Englishness," the poets of this century have begun to compose verse that is more in touch with the era's general temperament and literary ethos. The growth of female poetic voice is the most significant event in post-independence Indian English poetry, which reflects the shifting role of women in contemporary Indian society. The poetry of these poets is a sophisticated blend of aestheticism and activism that reveals the ultimate woman by pulling apart traditional beliefs with uncompromising honesty.
