Abstract Present paper is based on the qualitative variables of rituals, pertaining to life and annual seasons among the Munda tribals of Ranchi. It focuses on the pattern of the rituals & festivals which are celebrated among them all through the year. Their festivals & rituals are of two types, life cycle and seasonal. The former are named viz CHATTI, BITTHAL, SIKDA-SANAGE, SUTAMTOL, SAKI, LUTURTUKUI, LOTA-PAANI, CHAREBALA, GONONTAKA-IDITUKA, CHUMAN, SINDOORI RAKAB, VIDA, SANGALOM, ROATELA GARASSIBONGA and latter is seasonal which includes SARHUL, ROGHAARI, PHAGU, KARAM, SOHRAI, JANI SHIKAR etc. However it may be noted that traditions are changing due to impact of modernization and global influences.
