A Study of Role Perception among Anganawadi Workers in Different Taluks of Chamarajanagar District Mahadevaswamy K, Gopalaraju R Department of Sociology, Maharaja's College, University of Mysore, Mysore, India. Abstract The present study reports role perception among Anganawadi workers in different taluks of chamarajanagar district. A total of 270 Anganawadi workers were randomly selected from 4 different taluks of Chamarajanagar district. They were administered a structured questionnaire on role perception in one setting. This questionnaire measured role perception of Anganawadi workers in 5 components namely, planning, teaching, organization, guidance and evaluation. Apart from descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA was employed to find out the significant difference between anaganawadi workers working in different taluks for their mean scores in varius components of role perception and total role perception scores. Results revealed that Anganawadi workers from Kollegal taluk had highest total role perception, planning, teaching, guidance and evaluation. Anganawadi workers from chamarajanagar taluk had least scores in planning, guidance and evaluation components of role perception including total role perception scores. The anaganawadi workers from other taluks had role perception in between anganawadi workers of Kollegal and Chamarajanagar taluks. No difference was observed in organization component of role perception. Suggestions are provided to improve the conditions of Anganawadi centres as well as enriching the knowledge off Anganawadi workers.
