Online published on 20 June, 2014. Abstract Flabby ridge is extremely resilient or mobile alveolar ridge and occurs due to replacement of bone by fibrous tissue. Displaceable, or ‘flabby ridges’, present a particular difficulty and give rise to complaints of looseness or pain relating to a complete denture that rests on them. It will later tend to recoil and dislodge the resulting overlying denture, if the flabby tissue is compressed during conventional impression making. The strategies for management of the flabby edentulous ridge can be used in everyday clinical practice and are based on basic prosthodontic principle. This article describes a case report which demonstrates the use of a suitable impression technique in flabby ridge cases. Top Keywords Complete denture prosthodontics, Flabby ridge, Impression techniques. Top | |
