Online published on 5 January, 2012. Abstract Objectives To assess the oral health status, treatment needs and oral health care barriers among group –D workers of M.M University. Materials and Methods A cross sectional study was conducted on the group –D workers of the M.M university, using modified W.H.O format (1997). Results Of the 450 employees, 94.22% were males and 5.77% were females. 0.9% belonged to high socioeconomic class, 0.7% upper middle class, 12.2% lower middle class and 86.2% poor socio-economic class. 40.4% had self reported for dental problem. Out of these, 18.7% complained of decayed teeth, 11.1% of tooth ache, 9.8% bleeding gums, 0.4% fractured teeth while 0.4% felt other problems. 68.2% had never visited the dentist before. 22.1% reported the delay in seeking treatment to be unsuitable hospital timings, 20.8% gave their job priority, 20.5% had financial problem, 16.6% lack of time and 19.8% had other reasons. Prevalence of oro-mucosal lesions was 3.3%. 75.8% subjects had dental caries with a female predominance (92.3%). 21.4% of males and 19.2% of females had a healthy periodontium while 80.8% of females and 77.3% of males had a CPITN score of “2”.
