Online published on 16 March, 2018. Abstract Enterococcus faecalis is a micro-organism that can survive extreme challenges. Its pathogenicity ranges from life threatening diseases in compromised individuals to less severe conditions, such as infection of obturated root canals with chronic apical periodontitis. The highly complex nature of the organism poses a great challenge to an endodontist. In this article, characteristics of the organism, various factors such as virulence factors that makes the organism more resistant, methods of eradication of the organism were discussed. Top Keywords Enterococcus faecalis, virulence factors, endodontic infection, irrigants. Top |
