Abstract

During orthodontic treatment the main objective in treating malocclusions is correcting anteroposterior relationship between the upper and lower arches by obtaining a normal overjet, overbite and a class 1 canine relationship. Usually to obtain the normal A-P relationship extractions are done in either one or both the arches and afterwards space closure is done according the anchorage requirements of the particular patient by means of different techniques.
