Online published on 17 July, 2019. Abstract Aim Fluoride intake in moderate amounts help in proper growth of human body. Ingestion in excess, over a period of time can effect skeletal, dental and haematological parameters. This present study was conducted to evaluate the role of fluoride on haemoglobin levels of endemic fluoride individuals. Materials and method This study was conducted in Yedavelli village, Nalgonda dist, Telangana. The sample size of 80 individuals with endemic fluorosis (45 females and 35 males), a control group consisting of 80 healthy individuals were assessed for haemoglobin % (Hb %). Results The results obtained were statistically significant between the females and males of both study and control groups i.e., the haemoglobin values in females was found to be 8.93±1.58 and in males it was 10.30±1.49. Conclusion The present study in the endemic fluoride region showed that there was a direct correlation between the high levels of fluoride ion in the drinking water and the haemoglobin% and it was proposed that the fluoride has its cytotoxic effects on the erythrocyte membrane leading to reduction in Hb%.
