Online published on 25 December, 2013. Abstract Laser treatment in dentistry and periodontics has generated considerable interest among dentists and the public. The innovations and the use of dental laser systems has drastically increased as, lasers offer bloodless and painless treatment. There is no evidence that laser system adds clinical value over and above the conventional dental and periodontal treatment. Following is a brief review on the explanation of the mechanism behind soft tissue lasers and the evidence on the use of lasers for periodontal treatment.
