On very outset I wish all the esteemed readers contributors of Technical Articles, of Fire Engineer, Fire Service, Fire Safety professional brethren and their families a very happy & prosperous new year 2006. When we look back the year gone by i.e., 2005 it has certainly been a year of exciting times and year of disasters. The Tsunami was horror unlimited in South East Asia followed by accidents, floods in metropolis cities of Chennai & Mumbai, cyclones, devastating earthquake, major Fire Accidents. Chemical disasters and so on which caused colossal losses of human lives & property and left million injured and handicapped. Yet at the Year end history was created when a women was rescued alive after remaining trapped underground in the rubble caused to earthquake for nearly three months. This remind us that miracles can happen any time, any place on this blue planet-the mother earth.

For Fire Service personnel and others connected with life safety it seemed at times that natural and man made disasters were in competition and heroic rescue operation by Vallant Fire Fighters Show that dedication to ones profession always pays dividends.

Though it is not yet possible to predict the natural disasters, proper precautions and scrupulous observance of laid down safety norms can go a long way in preventing man made disasters.

Where as chance of occurrence of any disaster can not alto-gather be eliminated, the risks & damages caused due to any disaster weather man made or natural can be reduced by keeping/maintaining properly trained adequately equipped responders who are called upon to deal with disasters. Fire services are one of such first responders and they have never been found wanting to discharge their assigned duties with given resources at their command for which the services needs to be complemented. It is a fact that at present the Fire service not only in our country but in developed nations as well do no have all the required fire fighting equipments and are accorded the lowest priority in developmental areas.

The next International Fire Show Fire India - 2006 Conference & Exhibition which has become very popular among Fire Service Professional, Fire Safety experts and among every type of Engineering community has been slated to be held in Mumbai from 30th to 1st Feb, 2006 in Grand Hayat Mumbai. Final touches for organizing this event in a befitting manner to come up to the expectations of the concerned segment of society are being given by the core group of assigned their responsibility. I am sure that deliberations and brain storming sessions planned will definitely go a long way in furthering the cause of fire safe Environ for the society in modern age.

I once again wish a Happy New Year to all.
