INDIAN SOCIETY OF HORTICULTURAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (ISHRD), (formerly known as Hill Horticulture Development Board), was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860 on March 14, 1969, with its Head quarters at Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Chaubattia, Ranikhet,( then in the state of Uttar Predesh) now in the state of Uttarakhand. The basic aim of the society is to promote inter-disciplinary research in the field of Horticulture and provide a forum for expressing views on policies and programmes relating to horticultural research and development.
