Abstract

Combustion systems of steam generators fired by gas, oil, coal or other fuels, generally pose considerable threat due to the existence of explosive fuel-air mixtures. During design of such systems, highest degree of safety must be ensured to check and control the combustion process in a fail-safe manner. National and international standards play an important role in the selection and implementation of safety systems. Burner Management System suitable for continuous operation is an essential component of a complex safety concept. This paper comprehensively presents the current requirements for such systems and the practices followed by BHEL in implementing the same.
