59. A Plant Asset Management System for Hydroelectric Turbine/Generators Rasmussen James R. (Proceedings, Hydro 2003, Vol. I, Croatia, pp. 385–393). Abstract Plant Asset Management (PAM) systems are being implemented in hydroelectric plants to improve the financial performance of the plant assets. A complete asset management system involves collecting the correct data from condition monitoring equipment, plant process control systems, and other sources; correlating that data for analysis in determining machine condition and system parameters; using an automated knowledge-based system to convert the data to information including corrective maintenance and operating actions to reduce the probability of component failure; and communicating that information to the proper individuals in time to take the corrective actions. This paper will describe a best practice application of Plant Asset management for a hydro turbine generator. For plant asset management to work, you need the proper technology, methodology, and people the technology to provide actionable information, the methodology of managing with information, and the people to accept the actionable information and implement the required actions. In this paper we have presented the technology and we have also described a methodology to facilitate plant asset management. Properly trained and motivated people are the third and critical part of the equation to make plant asset management work.
