Online Published on 10 January, 2024. Abstract India is one of the leading produce of the fruits and vegetables in the world. In most of the commodities produced surplus and having export potential. At the same time most of the fruits and vegetables produced are perishable in nature and seasonal in nature. Therefore, it developes glut in the markets and hence fetch lower prices to the producer. At the same times huge post-harvest losses in the tune of 6-18% are attributed to the huge monetary loss and also hikes the prices during off season. Therefore, the on-farm storage of such commodities with the adoption of the properly engineered technology is most appropriate option to deals with the problems. Accordingly the various adoptable technologies includes location specific technologies developed from locally available materials as well as scientifically proven technologies with their possible adaptability needs to be prioritized.
