Abstract

Honey bees are a group of social insects which are widespread in habitats that are suitable for them. Although honey continues to be an important product of honey bees, their most valuable service is pollination. In order to strengthen and create people's livelihoods, bee keeping is one of the major enterprise as it uses and creates a range of different resources. Diversification in apiculture holds a vast potential and scope for societal development. Rural development through the promotion and extension of bee keeping is the need of the hour. It requires small investment of capital and skilled labour, but is a profitable venture for poverty reduction and improving the farmer's income.
