Through an analysis of the novel's themes, characters, and narrative structure, the paper argues that Adiga's work offers a sharp critique of the socioeconomic and political realities of modern-day India. Moreover; it examines the themes of social mobility, corruption, and exploitation, as well as the character of Balram Halwai, whose transformation from a meek servant to a ruthless entrepreneur highlights the harsh realities of survival in a cut-throat society.
