Abstract Indian classical dance is one of the most creative ways to express and communicate through body movements. It has a glorious tradition and it has been an enjoyable experience for women. Self-efficacy is the belief that one can successfully perform in a given situation. Individuals who have high self-efficacy will exert sufficient efforts in their work. Aim In this research, efforts were made to study the level of self-efficacy among female student dancers learning Kathak and Bharatnatyam. Sample A sample of 60 female student dancers of both the dance forms were selected from age between 13 to 25 years who were learning dance from fourth to seventh year. Sample was taken from Gujarat state only. Method The purposive sampling method was used. Tool used was ‘Self-Efficacy Scale ’(2012, Mathur and Bhatnagar). The results were statistically analyzed by using t-test. Results & Conclusion Results showed that Kathak students reported high level of self efficacy than Bharatnatyam students. Findings supported that there is a significant difference between female student dancers of Kathak and Bharatnatyam. Dance strengthens the dancer's self so this study can enhance one of the areas of evaluation of various dimensions of ‘self ’.
