Evaluation of some apple cultivars introduced from New Zealand at nursery stage Rai Ratna, Gangwar M.P. VCSG College of Horticulture Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand Online published on 5 April, 2012. Abstract The comparative performance of different apple cultivars at nursery stage is an important tool to obtain superior quality planting material before establishing a new orchard. Among the different apple cultivars, Jonagold performed better with respect to sprout length (149.33 cm.), scion girth (2.03 cm.), stock girth (2.36 cm.) and canopy spread (659.69 cm.2). Due to dwarf growth of cv. Galaxy and Eve, these may be planted in High Density Planting System (HDPS) after evaluation of flowering and fruiting characters. Top | |
