Abstract B. juncea var. Vasundhra was evaluated in 10-day-old seedlings. The seedlings were treated with KNO3 (15 mM) and Putrescine (0.5 mM). There was an increase in the growth rate levels with an application of Putrescine and KNO3. Both the treatments enhanced seed germination, seedling growth and accumulation of dry matter. Plants treated with Putrescine enhance several chemical constituents, (total carotenoids, soluble sugars and free amino acids), photosynthetic pigments and hill reaction activity. On the contrary, Put decreased ROS, MDA and hydrogen peroxide. The study suggests that the hardening of Brassica seeds with Put and KNO3 for a limited period induced the endurance capacity of seedlings and prepared them against any adverse environments.
