Impact of Adult Education Programme on Adult Learners’ Literacy, Functionality and Social-awareness Across Levels of Intelligence and Socio-economic Status Gakhar S.C., Saini K. Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Abstract The study was an experimental study based on a complex factorial design of analysis of variance (2 x 2 x 2). The study has examined the effect of intelligence, SES and treatment on the adult learners’ literacy, functionality and social-awareness. It has also examined the difference in literacy, functionality and social awareness among urban and rural adult learners. The study was conducted on 76 adults (42 in experimental and 34 in control group) selected from 3 adult education centres of Ferozepur district of Punjab. Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices, sets, A, B, C, D, E.,Socio-Economic Status Scale (Trivedi and Udai Pareck, 1965), along with three tests, namely, (i) Literacy Test, (ii) Functionality Test.
