Abstract Purpose The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the under-researched work on employees’ affective commitment by examining LMX, emotional Intelligence and job autonomy in the banking sector of India. Methodology/Approach The data was collected by self- administered questionnaire using convenience sampling from professional employed in the banking sector of India. Findings It shows that LMX is positively and significantly correlated with affective commitment of employees. In addition, the result of AMOS or Process (Hayes) analysis supports the moderating effect of job autonomy on the relationship between emotional intelligence and affective commitment. Furthermore, the study revealed that EI has an intermediary effect on LMX and affective commitment. Practical Implications The study recommends that higher level of LMX quality should be combined with enhanced level of EI and job autonomy for significantly influencing the employees’ affective commitment. Originality/Value In addition to considering the employees’ affective commitment, this study underlines emotional and job design factors that can modulate the relationship between LMX and affective commitment.
