Abstract

Digital humanities is a field of study that leverages digital technology to enhance our comprehension of the humanities, while library and information studies focus on information organization and retrieval. Although both fields hold individual significance, there is limited research exploring their interconnectedness. This study aims to address this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of digital humanities research productivity concerning library and information studies. The research will assess the output of digital humanities scholars, considering publication volume, author impact, and citations. Additionally, it will investigate the relationship between digital humanities and library and information studies, analyzing joint publications and scholars active in both domains. The findings will offer valuable insights into the synergy between digital humanities and library and information studies. Furthermore, it highlights that research output is notably higher in Western countries such as the USA, UK, Italy, and Germany, with a more pronounced emphasis on intra-country collaborations compared to inter-country collaborations. Consequently, there exists a knowledge and idea gap between developed and developing/ under-developed countries.
