Libraries are regarded as institutions that promote free and equal access to information for all. However, significant barriers to access still exist for certain groups, including people of color, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. In this paper, we explore ways in which libraries can create more welcoming and inclusive spaces and services for everyone. We discuss strategies for enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in library collections, services, programs, and physical environments. Additionally, we examine case studies of libraries that have successfully implemented DEI initiatives, addressing both the challenges and opportunities that arise in the process. Our ultimate goal is to equip librarians and library professionals with practical tools and recommendations for establishing more welcoming and inclusive spaces that cater to the needs of all users.
