Abstract

This study aimed to assess the level of awareness and utilization of web and mobile-based library and information services among the faculty members, researchers, and PG students of JSS Science & Technology University (JSSSTU), Mysore. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from 86 respondents of the JSSSTU library. The study found that the vast majority 98.84% of respondents use web and mobile-based library resources for learning and research purposes. The study stated that faculty members have a higher level of awareness, followed by research scholars, while students require more awareness programs to make the most of available resources. The study depicted that, usage rates vary across services, but e-mail reference, virtual reference, and online current awareness are popular (67.44%-80.23%). E-books and e-journals have high usage rates (87.21% and 90.7%) and other services, like online SDI and online document delivery, have lower utilization (65.12% and 69.77% respectively). The data shows that some library services are widely used, while others need more promotion or enhancements. Web and mobile literacy instructions with technical support could enhance the use of digital library services. The findings highlight the importance of considering these viewpoints when designing and enhancing digital library services.
