Study of sudden natural deaths

Abstract

Sudden natural deaths have several characteristics such as unknown clinical history, unawareness of preexisting disease, short course of disease to death, no evidence of trauma or poisoning. So to ascertain the cause of death, Medicolegal autopsies are conducted.

Common cause of sudden natural death (S N D) are cardiovascular diseases like hypertension and myocardial infraction; while pneumonia, koch's and embolism constitute important respiratory causes, perforation of ulcers, G.I. bleeding, cerebral malaria, encephalitis, intracranial haemorrhage and postpartum haemorrhage are some of the other causes of sudden natural deaths.

This study was conducted at Govt. Medical college, NANDED (M.S.) to identify some trends in sudden natural death.
