Abstract

Karanjin treated third instar larvae of fleshfly, Sarcophaga ruficornis manifested three types of morphogenetic forms viz., larval-pupal intermediates, pupal-adult intermediates and deformed adults. With the increase in concentration of karanjin (2000–3500 ppm), more larval mortality and 1-pintermediates were obtained; where as at lower concentrations (1000–2000 ppm) the percentage of pupal-adult intermediates and deformed adults was more pronounced. Karanjin, the principal furanoflavonoid of Pongamia pinnata L. Pierre (karanj) was used in the crytalline form isolated from the seed oil.
