Studies with New Promising Herbicides for Weed Control in Cotton* (Gossypium Hirsutum L.) Brar H. S., Ph. D. student, Gill G. S., Prof. & Head, Gill H. S., Agronomist, Brar L. S., Assistant Agronomist *Contribution from Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Abstract Field experiments were carried out during 1970 and 1971 to study the efficacy of some herbicides for weed control in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) Alachlor, Nitrofen and kerb were tried at three rates. Alachlor, at 3 kg. and nitrofen ad at 4 kg/ha gave good control of weeds. Cotton yield in treated plots compared very well with two weedings. Cotton yields were rather low under kerb application primarily due to its poor weed control. Nitrofen at 5 kg/ha proved toxic to the crop and depressed cotton yield. Top | |
