Breaking strength, tensile strength, extensibility and energy absorption showed gradual increase upto 60th day. His-topathological and histochemical studies revealed early infiltration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and lymphocytes followed by gradual increase in collagenous fibres. Epithelialization of graft was completed by 30th day. On 60th post-operative day stratified epithelium was observed at the grafted site but oesophageal glands were not evident in this region.
