Abstract The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of India advocates for the revitalization of physical education and sports within educational institutions, recognizing their crucial role in fostering holistic development. This paper examines the implementation of the Physical Education program under NEP 2020 and its efforts to nurture healthy children, enhancing both their well-being and academic performance by integrating sports into the academic curriculum. Drawing on a range of case studies from diverse countries and a comprehensive literature review, the paper assesses the impact of NEP 2020 on the Physical Education program, addressing issues such as curriculum integration, challenges, and prospects. Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the study offers insights and recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of the program. Key aspects requiring attention include infrastructure, curriculum development, teacher training, inclusivity, collaboration, and assessment provisions. Proposed recommendations encompass consolidated curriculum development, systematic recruitment of qualified wellness instructors, and the formulation of health and wellness policies.
