Abstract Copyright issues in the educational environment are very significant and one should understand the insights into copyright-related issues in the digital environment. The present study attempted to assess the awareness and perception of research scholars regarding Copyright Law at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. The researcher adopted the survey method and used a questionnaire tool to collect primary data from the respondents. The results reveal that most of the research scholars were aware of Copyright law but it is also noticed that they infringed the copyright law by taking photocopies or unauthorized downloading from the Internet. The majority of the respondents opined that seminars; workshops and other sessions will help them to learn more about copyright issues and prevent them from the consequences of copyright issues in higher education institutions.
