Abstract

This study seeks to understand how sensible subsistence practices centered on conservation affect each stage of life among the Kattunayakan community in Wayanad The ideas and experiences of individuals regarding traditional conservation practices are complicated and varied, hence the ethnographic research methodologies were chosenfor gathering the qualitative data. Because it is appropriate for cross-cultural work, where indigenous viewpoints are requently incorporated into current literature, the grounded theory technique was used to interpret the interviews. The comparison of the life histories of the two generations revealed a shift between the great-grandparents ‘group and the grandparents’ group from conservatism to profligacy The influence of other socioeconomic and cultural groups was a major factor in this shifting tendency.
