(Source- Agropedia). Training need will explain the gap between ‘what is‘ and “what ought to be” in terms of performance in the job. Assessment of training needs, especially in chickpea, while planning for the training of farmers and extension personnels is essential for its effectiveness. Kundam block is belongs to the major tribal farmers area of Jabalpur district. Chickpea is major pulse crop of rabi season. 10 villages were selected as per majority of the area under Chickpea crop. Total sample size of 120 respondents for present study. Majority of the chickpea growers perceived the most important constraints ie. irregular supply of electricity 91.66 per cent, lack of knowledge about disease control measures 88.33per cent, lack of knowledge about insecticides 84.16 per cent, lack of knowledge about improved seed 79.10 percent, lack of knowledge about weedicides 79.16 per cent, lack of knowledge about seed treatment 73.33 percent, majority of the constraints were placed at rank Ist. Therefore, it can be concluded that the socio economic status of chickpea growers were of middle age group, formally educated, single family, kaccha house, medium land holding, medium income i.e.24,001 - 50,000/-, medium level of material possession and medium category of social participation.
