Abstract India's independence from British rule began in 1858 and ended on August 15, 1947, India experienced a wave of optimism, confidence and unity after gaining independence. India has begun to make rapid progress in science and technology since its independence, which has led to an impressive improvement in its economy. It is a time when opportunities must be sought and promises kept. With the new energy of independence and freedom, Indian women writers started expressing the best writing in English for independent identity and made significant contributions to world literature. They wrote on a variety of topics, such as nationalism, liberation struggles, casteism, social realism, articles on diaspora, individual consciousness, self-identity, etc., and contributed to the development of postcolonial theory and Indian feminism. These English-speaking Indian women writers overcame the challenges of writing in foreign languages and developed a unique style for themselves. Their works do not imitate the English literary model but are very original and Indian in both subject and spirit. The present article is an attempt to introduce some of India's leading women writers in English with all their essential aspects after independence to understand the writing styles and themes.
